
10. Develop, assess and advise on strategy and policy concerning sports and exercise
Sports Professionals devise policy with a view to safeguarding and developing the continuity and quality of the sports and exercise options as well as the organisation.

During my graduation year the owners of MIBOSO would like to improve the quality and range of services they delivered to clients. The indoor and urban farming project was a smaller part in the MIBOSO 2.0 project as it is called internally by the host organisation. My role in this process of improvement is best described in the tasks below.

Administration tasks I received involved filling in the contact and intake forms as MIBOSO uses, checking if the follow-up system used is being implemented correctly by the team of trainers and scheduling appointments with clients that were still entitled in delivering different services such as health checks or personal training sessions.
During these tasks it got clear that the team didn’t always used the system as it’s intended, by ticking off several check marks on the forms MIBOSO uses. Since it was my responsibility this task would happen I addressed these issues to the trainers in a professional and appropriate manner. This by explaining the importance of these small steps in managing the quality of business, addressing issues the team experienced in using the forms and transferring these problems by making changes in the follow-up process. Resulting in a better follow-up of the process and a more efficient way of the administration process.
At first when receiving this tasks I didn’t know how to approach the issues that occurred. Would the team listen to be me being an intern that is involved with MIBOSO for a shorter period than they were. However, my approach towards the team turned out to be successful since they listened to the points I addressed to them as well as the explanation I gave them. So, I would use the same approach in future settings since it is important for team members to feel their issues are listened to a tackled with an eye for their needs.

Taking care of the stock management as well I first gained insight in the process MIBOSO was using in keeping track of the stock by using an Excel sheet with a range of products and supplies that needed to be present to assure a consistent delivery of service and quality. As mentioned earlier MIBOSO was improving the delivery and quality of services. This by implementing daily made fruit water, making, sure enough, towels and Rituals soap is available. This asked for an expansion of the stock management and more variables that needed to takin in consideration.
To do so I tracked the number of forms and products used during a couple of weeks to create a clear image in how much and how often orders had to be made. Also specified towards the different parties that took care of the orders. In a more practical way I helped the process to become more efficient by organizing the available storage space in such a way that it was easier to see how much stock was left.
This resulted in stock management that was less time-consuming and more ahead of supplies that would run out of stock so the focus could be more on the core business activities than being wasted at stock management.

Reflecting on my approach I should have clarified my changes in the process more to the team of MIBOSO in such a way that they also are aware of the steps it involves and could be executed by themselves. This is also part of the feedback I received from my internship supervisor Kelly Schat as stated below.

‘’ Self-steering is excellent. Maybe a little too independently. May contact more often regarding work and tasks. Above all, this point is highly developed.’’

So future focus for me is on improving communication and sharing of thought and ideas on policy. I intend to do so by organizing more meetings with the people involved and communicate more in using other ways of communication. Because level C is reached by me throughout the year by being involved in so many different improvements in business services implemented at MIBOSO. A larger share of my part in spreading knowledge, information and creating more involvement of third parties the end result will be even better.
