Establishing connections

During the years I met a lot of different people of which I learned a lot. From different ways of leadership and management to how to implement certain training principles and coaching techniques.

A friend of mine has had a (assisting-)managing role within a small supermarket concern. Therefore he used different approaches of leadership to achieve an excellent quality of business operations. In an informal setting I much often discussed with him how he addressed certain topics and what the outcome of that approach was. The same counts for my job during the holidays at Gemeente Aalten, where I talked and analysed the approach of the manager and team leader. Besides this I also made connections with people with knowledge about greenery and taking care of greenery.

I also made a link via LinkedIn with a former classmate of mine who has a company in selling seeds and greenery. I asked him for advice for my graduation project. This experience is what I take with me during my current internship in my managing, leading and implementation tasks. Lacking areas is being discussed with my supervisors before I take follow-up steps.

For example for compelling training programs for clients I make use of the expertise of the personal trainers. Discussing concept training programs with their areas of expertise, being mobility and stability knowledge of Auke van Dijken and improvement of strength related goals from the knowledge of Sam Flik.

With the implementation of training programs I try to be empathetic as possible when it comes to clients capabilities and issues. Trying to look for creative ways of helping them achieve their goals. The same goes for capabilities and issues of employees. For example me taking over a spinning class last minute because of  a knee injury of a colleague. With needed me to trust on my former knowledge of spinning to create a qualitative and challenging lessons for client of MIBOSO. In this way I show commitment towards my colleagues during my internship. During the Community of Practice at school I do this by being present and getting informed about the current status of my peer students(See pictures below).

By demonstrating a vision on health besides the dimensions of physical activity, rest and recovery. Being nutritional awareness and environmental influences on well-being. I try to innovate the fitness and health sector which is the main focus of my graduation project as well. For this I make use of the expertise of lecturer Joana Pereira from Portugal with knowledge about nutritional awareness. And the influence of different environments on the behaviour of people by making use of my internship experience during the years.

Body4All in Assen was very much focused on bodybuilding and designed for that purpose, here I gained knowledge in how to design a gym for this target group. At The Kettlebell Fitnessclub the focus was much more on functional training and thus designed for this purpose. MIBOSO is a sports studio much more focused on health in general with much more attention for all senses that have an influence on health.
