Motivating & Inspiring others

Motivating and inspiring others can be done in many different ways. My preference has the one that walks the walk before talking the talk instead of the other way round. Using minimalistic methouds in reaching the desired goal ahead. But this is a bit two sided for me, because this makes it hard to talk about all the things I’ve done and do.

Going back to year two of the education at my internship at The Kettlebell Fitnessclub. Run by two other students with a high entrepreneurial drive. I facilitated a business advice including a market analysis which motivated and inspired them to head in the right direction and took some pressure of their shoulders by analysing competitors in the area of Groningen. They inspired me into becoming and being more entrepreneurial and I motivated them to pursue their vision.

At my current internship I try to create an environment in which the personal trainers can focus as much as possible on training instead of side business such as administration and cleaning. This by forming a better fit with the cleaning schedule and tasks. But also by assuring a place for their personal belongings. Because at a job site one must feel at ease to excel in what they do. By taking some pressure of for them and making them feel at home quality of service will improve.

The biggest example is taking of the Wednesday evening shift as an employee in which Auke van Dijken has gained more time to focus on improving his qualities. I also motivate and inspire them with their educational courses they are following. Concerning the weight consultancy of Auke van Dijken and the Strenght and Conditioning course Sam Flik recently started to take part in.

Clients are motivated and inspired in a different way during the training sessions and afterwards using Whatsapp-communication and other forms of social media. One example of a client I’m really proud of is a young woman with the goal of squatting a 5RM with her own bodyweight as seen at the picture on the left and performing bodyweight pull-ups in which we are heading as seen in the video on the right.

Another target group is helping and motivating senior clients to stay activate, challenge their capabilities in terms of balance and motor-cognitive skills at a Monday morning Small Group Training session. Which has a high return of favour because this stimulates me to gain even more knowledge on how to improve health in general over a area of target groups.

In the school setting I try to be the same consistent professional as I’m being at my internship. Meaning others feels free to share their ideas and issues with me without being judged. Which shows in the reflection below.
